Deutsche Bank has reported that its Seismometer tool, available as part of its re-launched Market Colour application, supported FX algo clients by helping to identify periods of market stress in March’s volatile trading environment. “One of the reasons why it’s useful for clients who are trading with algos is that if there is a sudden market stress event, then they can pause the algo to let the market breathe a little before then resuming their algorithmic execution.
This is another way to help ensure our clients are actually executing with as much quantitative information as possible,” says Vittorio Nuti, Global Head FX Algos at Deutsche Bank. According to Nuti, clients say they were surprised with the quality of data provided during the whole Covid-19 volatility event. For example, Seismometer was triggered 20 times by market stress events in dollar yen over the last six months, however 15 of these alerts were in March alone with four events in one day on 9 March.
